About the Artist

His practice spans screen printing, illustration and occasional large-scale sculpture, often blending playful humour with a deep appreciation for everyday local icons. In 2024 he received the “Kids’ Choice” Award at the SWELL Sculpture Festival for Barker’s Beach Store, a sculptural cubby house inspired by a classic beachside shopfront, and in 2022 he recreated the iconic giant Putt-Putt smiley golf ball, temporarily installing it on Currumbin Beach. Alongside his studio practice, Richard also works as a children’s art tutor with the Gold Coast Art School and regularly delivers creative workshops for organisations including HOTA, SWELL Sculpture Festival, Mint Art House and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
