Peter Webb
Peter ‘Webby’ Webb was an influential Australian surf artist and designer whose hand-painted graphics helped redefine the visual language of surf culture. Best known for his work with Quiksilver in the 1980s, his bold colour and unconventional imagery remain part of Australian surf-art history.
About the Artist
Peter Webb’s work emerged from the heart of Australia’s surf industry and helped shift its visual language away from predictable wave-and-sunset graphics towards something more expressive, hand-painted and culturally distinctive. As the Global Art Director for Quiksilver international from 1984 - 2005, Webby created graphics that became closely associated with the brand and with a broader change in how surf culture represented itself through fashion and art. Ghetto Dog, War Paint, and Echo Beach are some of the iconic capsules he's renowned for. Peter unfortunately passed away in 2022, aged 67. His work continues to be exhibited and celebrated, including at HOTA during the 2026 Sessions Surf Festival.
