About the Artist
Crystallee Lord started out as a multidisciplinary artist blooming through COVID lock-down periods as an expressive activity with the youths in residential care she worked with. This continued into deep engagement with the local arts scene - specifically three consecutive years of exhibiting at the Miami Surface Fest, that drew her to murals. She loves that a single artwork can fundamentally shift the energy of an environment and engage a community on a larger-than-life scale. Her work brings together bold figurative elements and organic, storytelling textures, with much of her inspiration coming from coastal landscapes, the human experience, and the therapeutic potential of art. She works mainly with acrylic paints but also mixed media, often incorporating upcycled elements to give each piece an intentional, sustainable edge. Clients also value her collaborative nature and her professional background in youth, disability and mental health support, which ensures a transparent, communicative, inclusive, and real process from concept to completion. Some of Crystallee’s favourite projects have been her vibrant contributions to the Miami Surface Fest, and her work has been recognised through her selection as a finalist for the Dean Cogle Portrait Prize. She would love to create more large-scale community murals, particularly those that brighten public spaces and foster a sense of connection within the Gold Coast region. Including would love an opportunity to engage disengaged youths through a creatively collaborative effort for those open and willing to give this a chance too.
