Augusta Festiva

The concept of the place comes from the Rua Augusta, which is an iconic street of São Paulo (Brazil), a huge, diverse and busy city, also known as concrete jungle. Augusta offers both day and nightlife. It is a parallel universe with a lot of potential for discoveries.
I have been to Augusta a few times, so to create these murals I focused on the adventures and joy I felt there. The idea was to attract interest and curiosity with no need of a Brazilian cultural background. On the other hand, there are also some hidden details to be discovered, such as the stencil effect that represents the most famous pattern of São Paulo, created by Mirthes Bernardes in the 1960s.

He’s interested in manual and experimental processes in order to create works that can be interpreted in multiple ways by the viewer. For the murals there is a search for impact, without losing the harmony and balance of shapes and colours. In general, the works portray an imaginary universe but are always inspired by real life experiences.
